Bodysnatcher

linocut print

This was made when I became more interested in world news and the reactions of the people around me. I was becoming aware of America’s reputation and obsession for murder in different forms and how the masses seem to shrug it off or turn these concepts into books, movies, and podcasts for mass-consumption. With this in mind, I wanted to depict the Grim Reaper without his robe, he’s not hiding anymore because everyone is now familiar with death, the loss of a loved-one, as well as it’s personified form. He has a relaxed posture because he’s comfortable in the environment we’ve created. Death sells, and for him, business is good hence his open-mouth smile. This print isn’t meant to be a celebration of death, but a commentary of how mob-mentality takes advantage of and profits from the loss of life however graphic and tragic while treating every individual as just another body to be snatched up.
