My other single-color linocuts also use black ink but this piece uses the black to show the figure in darkness. This angel reaching out to Heaven, yearning to their core, their “soul,” to return to place a of peace. Trying to reach a place of solace, whether external or internal, is a concept that resonates with everyone and I wanted the halo inspired by renaissance paintings to reiterate how time-tested this idea is.
